After graduating from Geneseo Normal School, Tana went to
Wellesley and I went to Princeton.
When she had finished the special course in English
literature at Wellesley, Tana taught school while I was going
through law school and getting my law practice established.
She was asked to come back and teach at Geneseo, which was
quite an honor, and taught there for two years. She also
taught in a private school in Brooklyn where the Piel boys,
sons of the brewer, were among her pupils.
This picture was taken while she was teaching at Manchester,
Vermont. She is the girl in the center.
