"John Jones died of ye small pox at Crown Point,
July 4, 1776. Having had command of Company in ye service of
ye United American States ever since ye 19th of April, 1775."
(From History of Princeton, Mass.)
Israel Loring, father of Calista, was descended from Deacon
Thomas Loring, born at Axminster, Eng., who came to America in
1634 and joined the church colony at Hingham, Mass. One of
his sons was cured of a malignant sore by "a doctress" -- who
beat your Aunt Doc as a pioneer in the medical profession by
about 300 years. A grandson was graduated from Harvard in
1701 and took his Masters degree there in 1704.
Ari and Calista Boynton had two daughters besides your
grandmother -- Louisa who married William French and Mary who
married Martin Davis. Mary and her two daughters came to
Waverly to take care of your grandfather Angell's children
after their mother died. The children found her a thorn in
the flesh and were happy and relieved when she left after
about a year. Your Aunt Mami then became the "mother" of the
family.
